Who is Jesus?
Jesus said, "I and my Father are One." (John 10:30) Jesus never claimed to be just a good moral teacher, or some great prophet. He claimed to be the very Son of God, thereby claiming to be God! Either Jesus lied and is a fraud, or Jesus is who He claimed to be, God in human form sent to this world by God the Father.
Why was Jesus sent?
To Bring the Truth
John 18:37, "Jesus answered... To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice."
TO GIVE HIS LIFE
Mark 10:45, "For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."
To redeem all sinners
Galatians 4:4-5, "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons."
Romans 3:24-25, "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God."
to save the lost
Luke 19:10, "For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost."
1 Timothy 1:15, "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners..."
John 10:10, "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."
To set mankind free
Free from what? Sin. Condemnation. Eternity in Hell. Hopelessness.
John 8:32, "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free"
John 8:36, "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."
John 3:17, "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
To demonstrate love
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 John 4:10, "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation (satisfactory payment) for our sins."
What must I do concerning Jesus?
Realize Your Sin
You are a sinner. Without believing that you are a sinner, you cannot be saved. Jesus died on the cross for our sins, therefore, you must come to a point of realizing that you are a sinner. Before God, who is a just judge, we come short of His righteous mark that He has set for us in His Law.
Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
Isaiah 64:6, "But we are all as an unclean thing,
and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags..."
1 John 1: 8, "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us."
Sin separates us from God. Since we are all sinners and God is holy, our sin separates us from God. In fact, God must punish our sin because of His holy justice. When we die we will forever be separated from God in a place called Hell.
Isaiah 59:2, "But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you..."
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death (separation)..."
Understand God's Love
God loves you. Despite our sin, God loved us so much that He made a way of escape from hell. Since God is holy, He can not simply overlook our sin, but He offered a substitute in our place, His only Son, Jesus Christ. Psalms 49 tells us that another man cannot pay for our ransom, it must be God. Jesus is God. You must believe that Jesus is God, He lived a perfect life, He died in our place, He was buried, and He rose again from the grave on the third day.
1 John 4:9, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him."
1 John 3:16, "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us..."
Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth (demonstrated) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
1 Corinthians 15:1-4, "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel...By which also ye are saved... how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures. And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the Scriptures."
Repent and Believe
You must admit your sin, confess it, and repent of your unbelief and believe that Jesus Christ died, was buried, and rose again for your salvation! Acknowledge that He is the only to salvation, and He alone can save you from your sins and eternity in Hell!
Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Ephesians 2:8-9, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"
Acts 3:19, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out..."
Romans 10:13, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved.”
Pray this Prayer
Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. If I died now in my sin, I would go to Hell. Right now, by faith, I am trusting you as my personal Saviour and my only hope for Heaven. Please forgive me of all my sins. I now receive You as my personal Saviour. Thank You for dying on the Cross for me and shedding Your blood and rising from the dead. Thank You for saving me from an eternity in Hell. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
